I’m losing where you end and I begin.
Silence. The sound of silence cleaved Hermione’s head in two once Voldemort’s voice stopped speaking in the air of Hogwarts. She moved her hands away from her ears and looked up at Harry and Ron. Harry seemed to understand with one look at her, but Ron had gone pale.“Hermione, you can’t.” Ron said angrily, his finger jabbing the space between them.Instead of wasting time trying to explain herself to him, Hermione shook her head and turned on her heel. Draco was only a few yards away. ”Draco! Draco, wait —” She reached for his shoulder. He turned to look at her. Only when their eyes met did Hermione feel her resolve shatter.“I’ll go with you.” Her voice broke, echoing the feeling twisting her insides.“Granger, you can’t.” Draco replied quickly. ”You heard him just now, he wants me to go the Shrieking Shack.”“He’ll kill you,” Hermione whispered, stepping closer to him. ”He knows you’re the true master of the Elder Wand.”“Don’t you understand? I have to do this, I have to do what he commands of me.” Draco reached for his left arm to expose his brand but Hermione laid her hand on his before he could roll back his sleeve.“I’m sorry,” he said softly. Draco reached out to cup her cheek. Hermione closed her eyes at his touch. Then he was gone. She was alone.
